1991 DECEMBER
Elaine Perlov makes the first IMMORTAL COIL hat at age 22 from materials in her parent's basement. She hand-coils a steel frame and wraps it in black velvet to create a whimsical Jackie-O-style pillbox hat. Perlov copyrights the coiled hat design and launches her company, IMMORTAL COIL, in Boston.

1992 Elaine distributes her line of IMMORTAL COIL hats and handmade jewelry to boutiques in New York, Providence and Boston. Her designs immediately win acclaim in the local and national press.
 
1993 APRIL
Invited to do 3 Days of Trunk Shows at Henri Bendel to showcase her latest IMMORTAL COIL hat designs.
   
  MAY
Elaine appears in Vogue decked out in a deconstructed outfit from her first collection of clothing, and the tallest IMMORTAL COIL hat she ever made.

Elaine debuts her first collection of clothing consisting of 8 one-of-a-kind outfits at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. The group fashion show is called "Creation: 8 Boston Avant Garde Designers." The elaine perlov clothing label is launched.
 
   
  JUNE
Two IMMORTAL COIL hats chosen for a 4-year traveling exhibition organized by the Yeshiva University Art Museum in New York. The two hats become part of the museum's permanent collection.
 
  Two models from the 'Rescue Fashion' Runway
1994 FEBRUARY
Elaine is featured on the cover of the Boston Globe Weekend Calendar section to coincide with her first solo runway show. Her show, staged in an art gallery, is a well-attended success among art and fashion enthusiasts. The collection of 50 outfits entitled Rescue Fashion is a unique mix of recycled, restyled pieces and is based on the work of Joseph Beuys. Models walk a meandering route around original hanging shower curtain paintings by Boston artist, Matthew Murphy.
 
  MAY
Invited by Trevor Fairbrother, Curator, Department of Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to do an encore performance of the Rescue Fashion collection. Elaine restages her runway show in the sleek I.M. Pei West Wing of the museum.
   
  MAY
Dewar's Scotch seeks out Elaine as one of 2 companies in all of New England to sponsor her artistic projects for the next 3 years. During this period of corporate sponsorship, Dewar's funds her next 5 collections and with lavish solo runway events to audiences of 500 to 800 people. Elaine stages her events in unique venues such as a theater, a bowling alley and a few national historical landmarks around Boston.
 
 
  SEPTEMBER
FW 94-95 Collection. The first runway show sponsored Dewar's attracts an unprecedented crowd of 500 to the Cyclorama, a national historic landmark Elaine chooses for its unique design. The Cyclorama is a vast round hall originally built in 1884 to house a panoramic painting of the Battle of Gettysburg. All in attendance stand on raised scaffolding in the center of the space while the models walk the "runway" around the circumference.

MARCH
SPR 95 Collection. The second runway show sponsored by Dewar's brings a crowd of 800 to The Castle at Park Plaza, built in 1891 as an armory. Within this cavernous space, models meander in an abstract minimalist "garden" designed by florist Susan Gadbois, among moss-covered dress forms and ironing boards and delineated by white garden party chairs. Models are similarly draped in flora and fauna. Elaine collaborates with Boston artist Andy Abramhamson and the clothes feature his original cyanotype photographs.

 
  OCTOBER
FW 95-96 Collection. The third runway show sponsored by Dewar's at the Jamaica Plain Bowling Alley, Boston. The event is expanded to take place over two nights to accommodate an overflowing RSVP list. Models walk the bowling lanes as the runway, strutting among the tenpins to a live 5-piece punk band.

 
 
  NOVEMBER
IMMORTAL COIL hats continue to enjoy many fine art crossovers. This time featured in a group art show at the Bromfield Gallery, Boston.
 
  DECEMBER
Elaine's innovative bowling alley show is featured in Forbes Magazine in an article about the Dewar's marketing campaign. To date, Elaine Perlov's designs have been featured on television and in over 30 international, national and Boston area publications.
  SPR 96: The Ski-Jackie
1996 APRIL
SPR 96 Collection. The fourth fashion show sponsored by Dewar's at the Spaghetti Club in Cambridge. Elaine organizes an art exhibition on the walls featuring 3 Boston emerging talents to go along with a continual fashion show throughout the evening. Models showcase the collection while mingling with the crowd.
 
  MAY
Perlov is commissioned by the American Dairy Association to make twin IMMORTAL COIL hats for their national got milk? ad campaign. The hats are showcased at Gen Art's Fresh Faces in Fashion II event in New York City.
 
   
  JUNE
The Darien Gap (Miramax), a film by Brad Anderson, features a main character, hat designer Polly Joy, who is based on Elaine, and actually makes Elaine's hats in the film. Some scenes are filmed in Elaine's Beacon Hill apartment and at her Rescue Fashion runway show.
 
   
  SEPTEMBER
FW 97-98 Collection. Fifth Dewar's sponsored show at the historic Emerson Majestic Theatre in Boston's theater district. Models strut on the grand stage and down the aisles as a live lounge band plays from the stage-right boxes. The event draws an enthusiastic crowd of 800.
 
   
  OCTOBER
Elaine's clothes and hats are featured in the film Never Met Picasso (director, Stephen Kijak).
 
   
  OCTOBER
Fleet Bank commissions an IMMORTAL COIL hat for an ad campaign to run exclusively in fashion publications, including WWD.

2002
National and international distribution of the brands elaine perlov and IMMORTAL COIL to the retail trade at the International Fashion Boutique Show and Femme at the Javits, NYC and WWD Magic Show in Las Vegas. Elaine's collection is found in boutiques and specialty chains around the country including Fred Segal, Patricia Fields, Antique Boutique, Wet Seal's Limbo Lounge, and more.

  AUGUST
Launch of the website www.elaineperlov.com, showcasing Elaine's complete collection with over 120 pages of photos, product information and suggested outfit combinations. Elaine's website gets immediate notice when it is featured on Lucky Magazine Online one week after launch.

Elaine is the featured designer in the back inside page of Lucky Magazine, Boston pages.
 
2003 AUGUST
New elaineperlov.com feature! The premiere issue of The Fitting Room, Elaine's e-newsletter of style, trends, food, fashion, and her Guide to Modular Dressing rolls out to hundreds of e-mail boxes.
   
2004 JANUARY
Elaine is invited to be a featured speaker in the Design Within Reach monthly lecture series in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Elaine presents a paper on her signature concept of Modular Dressing as it relates to traditional Japanese architecture. The Boston Sunday Globe runs a story on the talk in their Ideas section.

New elaineperlov.com feature! The Elaine Perlov Gift Card debuts, just in time to satisfy Valentine's Day wish lists. The new product is promo-ed on Lucky Magazine Online to favorable results.
 
  APRIL
Solo Trunk Show. Elaine hosts a fashion event in downtown Boston at The Westin Copley Place showcasing her latest designs. The event is covered by the Boston Sunday Herald.

Elaine is invited by the Boston School of Fashion Design to judge student final projects as part of an exclusive jury of industry professionals.

Elaine is honored during Boston Fashion Week with The Vision Award 2004 for excellence in fashion design.

Elaine hosts another Solo Trunk Show at the Boston Marriott Copley Place in the glass-enclosed atrium overlooking Huntington Avenue and the Copley Mall. The event is on the roster of Boston Fashion Week and is covered by The Boston Globe.
 
2005 FEBRUARY
Major re-launch of elaineperlov.com as a full e-commerce website. The new site offers fully automated online shopping while maintaining personalized service and many custom options. The new site is featured on Lucky Magazine Online and gets record hits and sales.
