Dear Elaine,
I have some fashion dilemmas. This fall brings yet another new/old fashion item that is giving me the creeps: narrow zipper pants! Also, leggings seem to want to make a comeback! What is going on?!? Just when I find comfortable, slimming, and cool pants, the Fashion Industry wants to go back to the old 80s-early 90s kind that are only flattering on the size 0s among us (like one of my co-workers). I love my low cut, low rise, boot cut, nearly flare type trousers and jeans. Please tell me they're not going away!

—Paloma M.

Dear Paloma,
Leggings and all things 80s seem to always want to make a comeback. I noticed that Arden B.'s whole store is a strange pink-and-black-striped combination of Chanel meets Madonna's Material Girl circa 1986.
I say let the girls who were born in the 80s wear it. They weren't dressing like that in high school during that unfortunate fashion time, so it's not awful for them.

But don't worry, at the moment boot-cut pants are not going away. Too many chic girls love them, and they are great with stilettos (see TREND FORECAST: Shoes). Plus we'll be showing a Limited Edition pair in stretch rayon shimmer pinstripe later this year!
